Thanks for the compliment Mr. K (can I call you Jack? :).

I'm not opposed to some sort of privacy protection legislation on general principal, but the 'opt-in' requirements of this draft, if enacted, would ruin most every site on the internet that uses advertising to generate revenue to continue to operate and give free content like my two sites do. Of course the larger sites would find a way around the opt-in, unfortunately, the little guys would be hurt by this.

In my case, I do not collect any personal data whatsoever. If someone visits my site, any ad that gets displayed is displayed based on data that the reader has already 'farmed' out through their IP address. Honestly, if one wants to keep their data private (browsing history, shopping preferences, etc..) they should just disable their cookies altogether. Firefox also has many aps that allow one to browse without ads -- kind of like an internet tivo.

I seriously despise the fact that I was somewhat of a puppet for large corps I generally rip through my articles, but in this case I made the decision to stand up for my interests as a business owner which happens to give me and the writers I pay an opportunity to present free content that is outside the mainstream -- outside of the corporate filter; how ironic.
